The French country communes are famous for their regular "Rondenee", when families get together and walk or cycle through the woods and tracks in their area.
Because of this, routes are often marked and color coded for distance and difficulty. The soft rolling countryside is ideal for all such activities, and maps and compasses are available to all who might wish to explore. For the gentle potters we do have some bicycles available, however if you are an enthusiast, quality bikes are available to hire, in the near by town of St Jean d'Angel or of course, bring your own .
Horseback riding We have two good riding stables within easy reach for guests to hire horses for local treks.

Nature enthusiasts
The Charente is one of the most exciting areas in France for flora and fauna, having the coast, deciduous forests extensive river valleys and the famous wetlands of the Marais Poitevin..
We are happy to provide packed lunches for explorers and deliver to starting points if required.
History and Architecture The Charente Maratime has been little touched by war, and consequently the history is fully displayed in its architecture. Its medieval towns and cities stand to this day and evidence of the Roman and English occupations is still evident. From the Roman silver mines in Melle, the Triuphant Roman Arch in Sainte to the medieval cities of La Rochelle and Napoleonic Forts, the area is a veritable treasure chest!
